C9 at Target |
How lucky are we? Target has offered to give us a $25 gift card. You can use it to purchase some of their awesome C9 by Champion clothing... They want to know how you are keeping your entire family fit.
This year I decided that my goal would be that I would participate in fitness events with my son. I started this fitness journey last year and I did a lot of races. I talked my son into running the mile race at two of them, and he loved it.
I was fortunate that a very special person surprised me and paid my way into the Rock n Roll mini marathon (5K) in Feb. As I was driving to the expo to pick up my packet, I asked Bryce (my 9 year old son) if he wanted to run the race with me. You have to love his honesty...He said, "Do I have to stay with you the whole time or can I run at my own speed?" He's faster than I am. I told him he could GO! I was blessed with a gift from a friend, so I used the money I would have spent on me for him. It was the beginning of a really great new lifestyle for us.
When I first began this journey, my most favorite thing to do was flip a big tire... it still is btw... If you haven't seen my logo, I am a tire flipper. I love flipping tires. When I would tell Bryce about it, he wasn't impressed until I had him try to flip the tire. He was hooked. He couldn't do it but he thought I was a tough chick. Well, we loved it so much that we (my son and I) headed over to our local tire store and got our own tires to have at home. We haven't used them a lot, but we have had some fun with them. Not only do we flip them, but we also jump on them like they are plyo boxes. I am still looking for a BIG tractor tire, but for now we have 3 different sizes.
Since then we have run quite a few races and have some others headed our way too. I have run some races without him, but I certainly don't like it as much. He makes fitness fun!
We ran a Mother's Day run! He beat me by almost 10 minutes!!!
We ran for Boston... It actually turned out to be a walk, but we talked and bonded like we hadn't before. It was really special and nice because I had been glued to the TV and Twitter all day....
He loves to go on walks with me and sometimes we have to stop and enjoy the nature around us!
Then there is the fun of Color Me Rad. We had a blast getting colorful and laughing together!
Adding Fitness into your family life is the best. Get your kids outdoors and away from the video games for a bit! It's good for all of us. Bryce often asks me if we can go for a walk or a run. And usually it's when I am being lazy, so it's a good motivator!
I am usually wearing my C9 by Champion Clothes from Target while I am exercising with my family!

ReplyDeleteMe too!!! I have since I can remember!
DeleteI have gotten my kids interested on virtual runs. They love getting bling and we can all run together!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. My son loves the bling too!
DeleteI have a 4 year old son and he has gotten the running bug! Loves running 1 mile races (he's done 12 races now) and is in a youth running group that meet once a week and run and play running games. I love the fact that he enjoys running as much as my husband and I do.
ReplyDeleteWow! 4 years old! You rock!
DeleteWe do activities like hiking, walking and bike rides together. We will be also doing our first 5k together
ReplyDeleteWay to go!!! Awesome!
DeleteWhat a fabulous bonding time with your son. I wish I could have had an activity with my mom like this. I think we would be much closer. You are teaching him through your actions how to be healthy. And there is no greaeter gift you can give him. Good work mama!
ReplyDeleteIt is making for some really special memories!!! I wish I had this as a child too... But I was fortunate that I had sports.
DeleteMy kids go everywhere with me... to the track, on bike rides, to the gym.
ReplyDeleteLove it! As it should be, right!
DeleteI am working on getting my girls involved. They are proud of me though!
ReplyDeleteThey should be!
DeleteIt's just me and my chocolate lab Murphy, but he loves to run as much as I do! I take him running with me as often as I can, and he always is up for a good trail run- his code word is "squirrel," and he is off at a sprint! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! That's adorable!
DeleteMy fiance and I are very active, we met through running so it makes sense that is something that helps us together. We use exercise as a healthy happy way to spend time together. Our honeymoon is going to be an Ironman! To most people that isn't romantic but to us, its perfect...spend the money on a vacation/race/time together/healthy option!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap you guys rock! What an awesome honeymoon... a little much for me but if you are there, that is what you should do! Congrats~
DeleteI don't have a family yet, but I try to get outside with my parents or other family members any chance I get, whether it's for a walk, doing yard work, watching a ball game or playing at the park.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome Sheena. I have no doubt that when you have a family, they won't have much of a choice but to be active... they will have to keep up!
DeleteYard work is the worst outdoor activity ;) Actually I like mowing, but the other stuff stinks! Great job Mama!
ReplyDeleteI keep my family active by making it a family affair. I take my daugher (and son I'm pregnant with lol) on walks with me. My daughter, that is 2, also loves giggling and working out along with me to our DVD sets. My husband has a very physically demanding job, so its more work to get him involved, but I do my best by making sure we have healthy and well balanced meals.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!!!! How fun!
DeleteMy first DietBet ever was in April w/ you and I discovered it from following you on FB. Then I saw that you were taking your son to those marathons so that inspired me to register my 2 boys and I to do our very 1st 5K (Color Me Rad) in October. Being a single Mom, I am limited to what we can do but I will do my best for my health and my kids. Thank you for being an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI think it's awesome that you and your son share that bond! I love it when I get my nieces to run races with me! My nephew has even told me he wants to do one with me!
ReplyDeleteMy kids join me when I walk/run the dog, and we also take trails through the woods. Not to mention that we are part fish and spend copious amounts of time in the pool.
ReplyDeleteLoving that you two are staying fit together. My 2 year old son just started doing DDP Yoga with me...well, while dancing all around me. lol Love that you're having this giveaway. I love target active wear!
ReplyDeleteI don't have kids, but I have two dogs I take on long walks
ReplyDeleteI live at home with my patents currently. My dad and I go on weekly bike rides Sunday after church. For my mom's last birthday I bought her a month yoga pass and we took classes together. I love encouraging them to be active even though they are aging because I know it will keep them healthy and happier longer.

We take a lot of family (including the dog) walks together. And for now, my son uses the childcare at my gym. Plus I'm pursuing a career in fitness, so my kids will always know that being active is important! :)
ReplyDeleteMe and my mom work together. We have scheduled long runs together on Tuesdays and then text each other throughout the rest of the week about running or walking. This keeps up accountable and it is so much nicer to have a running partner
ReplyDeleteWe turn off the TV and hit the pavement.
ReplyDeleteWe exercise together and go the gym!
ReplyDeleteMike and I both love to run and hit the gym. Luckily for us, staying active isn't too hard to come by :)
ReplyDeleteWe run together. Now we're working on our garden and yard!
ReplyDeleteWe stay healthy by walking every day
ReplyDeleteWe go running
ReplyDeleteIt' just me and hubby. We usually do lifing/working out separate (different shifts we work) and then we walk the little doggie together. Hike when time allows.
ReplyDeleteI think we can only tag you if you follow us. I'm not sure but when I click the @ and start typing your name it doesn't populate. I put my link to my pin in the rafflecopter though.
ReplyDeleteI try to make sure they eat healthy that's the most important thing I can do.
ReplyDeleteI have a 12, 9, and 2 year old. The older kids don't want to run with me (I've tried) so I resort to activities they enjoy. I especially like one-on-one dates biking or hiking. As a family we frequently go to the playground, beach, and swimming pool together. I recently told the two older kids about color runs and mud obstacle course runs. I may just convince them that running is fun!
ReplyDeleteby going on vacation or playing sports or doing family activites
ReplyDeleteas an avid runner I've tried to introduce my kids to MY sport....after they ran track for their high school this year, the 3 boys have now decided to also run cross country. AND one has committed to running his 1st half marathon
ReplyDelete1....We have workout Saturdays. Emily who is 20 months goes to child watch & the hubby & I work out together.
ReplyDelete2. Sunday all of us (including our dog) go for a 5 mile run around Lake Miramar
3. I baby wear my daughter when I do bleachers. She giggles & laughs ALL the time! :)
I do love the Champion C9 stuff at Target! I also can't believe your son beat you on Mother's Day. That's just wrong!
ReplyDeleteHehehe...I forgot to add the family part :) I keep them active by playing their sports with them (soccer and baseball) plus whiffle ball and the occasional run. They both also enjoy doing ab ripper x with me :)
DeleteWe go to the track every Monday as a family and my husband and I take turns running the track and the other one pushes the stroller, and chasing after our older one. It's SO much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't have a family yet, but I do get out on the weekends with the dog take her for walks.
ReplyDeleteLove Targets work out clothes. You can buy twice as many for any of the name brand stuff.

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I take out the jogging stroller on sundays. The other days, it's just me and baby. My husband tries to join us once in a while when his schedule allows it.
ReplyDeletei have a little one so it is just me riding my bicycle in the room while watching tv and bouncing him- livivua chandler
ReplyDeleteMy kids are in little league and t-ball. Luckily their daycare & after school programs make them go outside, play in the gym or swim on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteI almost exclusively buy my workout clothes at Target! Need some new clothes.
We stay active a s a family always outdoors. Moving our body constantly! Also eat a good diet. Most important.
ReplyDeleteWe keep active through running, of course ;)

ReplyDeleteSoccer, tennis...and we love the gym! The kids even do Zumbatomic! Fun stuff! :)
ReplyDeleteWe and practice handstands and yoga
ReplyDeleteFortunately, my kids have always been active. My son plays basketball, football, track, baseball, and last year he even had ice hockey in that mix. He has conditioning 5 days a week (two hours of weights and activities). My daughter has attempted organized sports and excels in running and weights. It's their mama that has a problem! LOL
ReplyDeleteI run and go to the gym with my mom and brother!
ReplyDeleteDanger runs most of the same races that Rob and I do! He much prefers to run at his own pace most of the time, unless we have prearranged something different!! We love to go for walks, and enjoy swimming together too!
ReplyDeleteI'd say I am the most active one in my family but I continually encourage everyone to come to the gym with me or even just walk th dog. My mom and sister have now joined my gym & we make it a bonding experience every time we go. I really enjoy it because I get to be "trainer Shelby" & kick their bootys !! ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't have kids, but my fitbit really helps me with staying active!
ReplyDeleteI try to get my kids to be as active as possible. They love to plank with me and go on walks. Hopefully one day they will run with me! We did the Color Run together and had a blast!
